Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Telugu director K. V. Reddy spins this fanciful adaptation of King Lear. The film opens with an elderly king (Subba Rao) being greatly offended by his youngest daughter Gunsundari's (Sriranjani) claim that she will be utterly and unconditionally devoted to her future spouse. The sovereign spitefully arranges for her to be married to the deaf, dumb, and crippled lad (Siva Rao) who is in fact under a particularly nasty curse. When the king himself catches some bizarre disease, the three son--in-laws set out to find the coveted Mahendramani jewel, which reportedly has magical curative powers. Gunsundari's husband finds it, but the stone is promptly swiped by the other son-in-laws, turning one of them into a bear.
