Quatre has been forced to destroy his Gundam in order for the young pilots to launch safely into space. In space, Lady Une receives word that the five captured rebel Gundam engineers are all ex-OZ employees who disappeared during the development of the original Tallgeese Gundam. Lady Une decides that they should be put to work developing a new mobile suit even more powerful than all the Gundams. On Earth, Zechs has surrendered himself to OZ and Colonel Treize, declaring that he can no longer fight for the Romefeller Foundation's ideals. Treize plans a way out for Zechs to escape the consequences of a court martial, but Zechs is forced to wonder what other plans Treize has in store for him. The Romefellers themselves are working on a way to rid themselves of the dependency on soldiers: The Foundation's chief engineer has developed a computerized "mobile doll" system to allow mobile suits to be entirely automated in battle.
