Is motorcycle racing a family affair? The proprietors of a special racing school in France seem to think so -- they feature classes for beginning riders ages 8 through 14, giving kids still waiting for their drivers license a chance to start learning the finer points of competitive racing. Director and cinematographer Pierre-William Glenn is a long time fan of motorcycle racing, and he brings an insider's perspective to the documentary Portrait de Groupe avec Enfants et Motocyclettes (aka Group Portrait with Kids and Motorcycles), which follows the young would-be champions as they learn to operate mini-bikes and navigate the track. Glenn also includes interviews with the parents who send their children to racing school as well as some veteran racers whose experience confirms both the glory and the danger of the sport. Group Portrait with Kids and Motorcycles was an official selection at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
