Greta (Agnieszka Kruszewska) is a young German girl living comfortably in a rural area of Poland. Janusz Grabowski is a younger boy who has escaped from a detention camp. Through a Byzantine series of circumstances, Greta finds herself caring for Janusz. Actually, there's more to the story than that. Greta takes place during World War II....and Greta herself is the daughter of an SS officer.
