Synopsis by Alice Day
The Great Moghuls ruled India from 1530, when Babur ascended the throne, to 1858, when their empire was overthrown by the British. This series gives an account of their accomplishments, their successes and failures, and their individual styles at leadership. Great Moghuls: Akbar profiles Akbar, who built the capital city at Fatehpur Sikri in 1640. Details regarding his council and his harem are offered, and his preoccupation with religious issues is discussed. The Moghuls consolidated India, and left a rich legacy of architecture and art, much of which can be seen in modern times.
