Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This 6-reeler was assembled by the Playgoer's Film Company of New York City. The robbery took place early in the proceedings, after which the film concentrated on the comings and goings of its four protagonists. These worthies were played by Wallace Eddinger, Gail Kane, Dorothy Arthur, and Martin J. Alsop, all prominent stage personalities of the era. Unable to supervise editing of the film because of the untimely death of his father, producer-director Daniel V. Arthur was compelled to present a raw, uncut version of the film for opening-night audiences. Even in this embryonic state, The Great Diamond Robbery pleased the crowd.
