Synopsis by Sally Barber

A Good Job for a Woman is a six-part series created to introduce a wide variety of career choices, and the scores of options within each field. It's especially designed to encourage and motivate young people to consider careers in the math and science fields. Each program profiles women on-the-job to provide a realistic look at the workplace experience. The women also discuss their personal lives and career choices. A Good Job for a Woman: Ecology examines careers in this vast and varied field where the emphasis is on environmental concerns, outdoor activities, and natural resource conservation. Viewers shadow a coast guard officer, learn about an environmental save-the-coastline project, as well as a high school ecological project, and observe students involved in career training. Other programs in the series are A Good Job for a Woman: Mathematics, A Good Job for a Woman: Aviation, A Good Job for a Woman: Maritime Careers, A Good Job for a Woman: Agriculture, and A Good Job for a Woman: Engineers.
