Synopsis by Hal Erickson
For the benefit of those not fluent in Turkish, the title Gomlek translates to The Shirt. We assume that the title is symbolic, since the plot proper involves a labor dispute. A hated landowner is murdered by an insurgent group of workers, causing the dead man's equally despicable neighbor to tremble in his boots. To save his own hide, the duplicitous landlord pretends to be sympathetic to the worker's cause. Only when it is nearly too late do the rebels discover that they've been had. Director Bilge Olgac also doubled as screenwriter on Gomlek.
