Synopsis by Janiss Garza

The vivacious Viola Dana shines in this farce. When they lose their inheritance, Joy Duval (Dana) and her sister, Cicily (Helen Lynch), are forced to go to work. So they close up their home, tell their pals they're going on a yachting trip and head for the employment agency. However, no one wants to hire a stylish flapper, so Joy disguises herself as Jane -- a real plain Jane in frumpy, so-called "sensible" clothes. She is immediately hired by a spinster, Harriet (Mayme Kelso), to be an "intellectual advisor" to her frivolous nephew, Billy Norton (Gaston Glass). Billy isn't remotely interested in Jane or anything she tries to tell him. But one night, when Joy/Jane hears that a crook is breaking into houses in her old neighborhood, she goes to her home to gather up her valuables. Norton, meanwhile, has snuck off for some fun. They both wind up spending the night in the garage because they are locked out. When Aunt Harriet finds them in the morning, she is thrilled and insists that they marry. This seems like a fate worse than death to Billy -- until he discovers that the pretty, stylish Joy has been hiding under Jane's dowdy facade.
