Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Gilsodom is a fictionalized extension of a documentary produced for Korean television in 1983. Working in concert with the Red Cross, the documentary makers endeavored to unite relatives from both the North and South sectors of Korea, who'd been separated by the war thirty years earlier. The film concentrates on Kim Ji Mi, who dreams of a reunion with her illegitimate son after watching the documentary. With the blessings of her husband, Kim heads to the television station, all the while flashbacking to her youth during the war. Several surprises await both Kim and the movie audience along the road to her reunion in the prize-winning Gilsodom (the title refers to the town where Kim bore her son).
