Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This TV animated cartoon special was an outgrowth of the Saturday morning cartoonfest The Real Ghostbusters. Based on the Ghostbusters theatrical features of the 1980s, the cartoon "stars" the (very flattering) likenesses of Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis. We probably don't have to remind you at this point that the title characters are "paranormal investigators", who utilize all manner of high-tech paraphernalia to do battle with malevolent ghosts. Also on hand is a nice spirit, a green blob by the name of Slimer! (the exclamation point is part of the name). This time around, Ghostbusters Inc. journeys to the past to do battle with a passel of notorious wraiths. Back to the Past was a collaboration between DIC Enterprises and Columbia Television.
