Two women in their thirties who suffered from paternal sexual abuse for over a dozen years each recount their stories, made all the more horrifying in one case because the offending parent was a child social worker specializing in treating cases like the one he was creating at home. Also, in both cases, the girls' mothers knew about the goings-on and turned a blind eye to them in order to keep their lives on something resembling an even keel, and to keep their respectable "place" in the community. In addition to telling the girls' stories, the documentarians travel to institutions where abused children are treated and show their art and drawings. The film also includes a dramatized sequence which captures a composite case history.
