Synopsis by Craig Butler

Gertie on Tour was a sequel to Winsor McCay's popular Gertie the Dinosaur and like the earlier film was intended to be an interactive experience between McCay (or a substitute) and the eponymous dinosaur. Only fragments of the complete film survive, but the plot was simple: Gertie in the present, interacting with humans and animals in both rural and urban settings. In the surviving sections, Gertie is surprised and upset by a frog; since frogs in her day were usually ten feet long, she does not know what to make of the strange creature. She plays with her own tail, then comes across a train with which she gently plays. Tired, Gertie rests and "dreams of other days when she was the life of the party." In the dream, Gertie dances gaily among a crowd of dinosaurs.
