Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
This interesting documentary by Heinz Sielmann looks at the intriguing Galapagos Islands just off the coast of South America. The scenery and the flora and fauna that inspired Charles Darwin to develop his theory of natural selection and evolution is examined in detail. Sielmann not only looks at the minute behavior patterns of creatures like the lowly toads, fighting over which one has territorial rights to a hole in the ground (these are males), but also the activities of the more attractive birds. Nature lovers in particular will appreciate the diverse life forms captured in a wide variety of pursuits, both above ground and underwater.
