In commemoration of National Holocaust Remembrance Week in 1996, Frontline presented this intimate story of two Polish-American Jews returning to their family shtetl, or small community, to confront the ghosts of the past. During the Second World War, Bransk, Poland saw the majority of its 2500 Jewish residents shipped to the gas chambers at Treblinka. Producer Marian Marzynski, herself a survivor of the Warsaw ghetto, follows her subjects as they re-trace the ground of their youth, visit the restored Jewish cemetery, and confront former Gentile neighbors who stood on both sides of that ultimate moral dilemma.
