Synopsis by Perry Seibert
This documentary charts the colorful history of Bizarre and Straight, the two record labels created by Frank Zappa in 1968 in order to get himself out of the unfavorable contract he had signed with his label up to that point. Such famous names as Lord Buckley, Tim Buckley, Alice Cooper, and Captain Beefheart would make the label a successful artistic endeavor. The filmmakers interview a number of peole who recorded for or worked at the labels including Pamela Des Barres and Kim Fowley, as well as a handful of rock critics who provide historical perspective on the events discussed.
