Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Director Jan Prusinovsky's Czech-language tragicomedy Frantisek je devkar (AKA Frantisek is a Womanizer) follows the plight of Frantisek Soukenický, a psychiatrist with a successful practice who just happens to be an incorrigible skirt-chaser. It all comes crashing down for him when one of his ex-mistresses grows so distraught and deranged over their breakup that she files abuse charges against him - and he loses his practice. To make matters worse, Frantisek's wife, Eliška, finally reaches her breaking point and kicks him out of the house - without telling him that she's pregnant - and Frantisek's best friend, Viktor, promptly decides to take up with Eliška. With no other recourse, Frantisek moves into his mother's house and takes a job as a driving school instructor.
