Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Low-budget silent Western star Dick Hatton both co-wrote and starred in this routine oater about a good-hearted rancher almost cheated out of his valuable land by a city schemer. Hatton played Dick Reynolds, who opens his ranch for an ailing war buddy (Maine Geary) and his pretty sister (Carmen Arselle). Dick has discovered deposits of dye on his as-yet-unpaid-for land, and an evil chemist (Barney Furey) is scheming to take possession. Soon Dick is also unjustly charged with murder and thrown in jail. The war buddy's sister manages to vamp a confession out of the ranch foreman and Dick is not only released, but elected sheriff. As often, the somewhat sulky Hatton left it up to others -- in this case Arselle -- to do the strenuous work. Arguably, the least personable of the silent screen cowboys, Hatton's starring career had all but come to an end when he died in a car accident in July of 1931.
