Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith

The relatively short but distinguished racing career of Canada's legendary driver Gilles Villeneuve is featured in this program. There are numerous interviews with those who knew him best and had the pleasure of racing with him or watching him race. Gilles died a violent death while completing a practice run in his Ferrari in 1982. Prior to that time he drove in 67 Grand Prix races and won six of them. Listen as those interviewed describe the passionate, competitive and confidence of this man who had skillfully survived many previous mishaps prior to the day he died. The promise of Gilles lives on in his son Jacques who began his career at the age of seventeen and started hitting his stride during the early 1990s. Find out what was so unique about this man that a museum has been built in Quebec to honor him. To date, tens of thousands of people from countries located all over the world have visited the museum.
