Kerry Candaele's documentary Following the Ninth: In the Footsteps of Beethoven's Final Symphony examines how Beethoven's "Symphony No. 9" has impacted people around the world. The film looks at Chinese students who played the piece during the Tiananmen Square protests and Chilean women who sang it to political prisoners of Pinochet's regime, as well as an annual Japanese tradition of performing the symphony with as many as 10,000 people in the chorus.
