Synopsis by Nathan Southern

Together from 1982 to 1991, the British band Flesh for Lulu arrived on the heels of the Sex Pistols; they sported makeup and leather, but lacked the "go to hell" nastiness of Sid Vicious' brood. In the end, Flesh's blend of goth rock, post-punk, and glam rock into one distinct sound bore a closer resemblance to pop/rock than to anything created by the Pistols or the Adverts, but Lulu still courted controversy. The group issued four original EPs and one live set during its tenure; shot in May 1985, the concert film Flesh For Lulu: Roman Candle -- Flesh for Lulu Live coincided temporally with the Big Fun City album on the Statix label. In this film, Lulu performs at The Camden Palace Theatre in London. Numbers performed include "Cat Burglar," "Roman Candle," "Restless," "Golden Handshake Girl," "Blue," "Seven Hail Marys," and nine others.
