Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Flaming Borders was inspired by the Iran-Iraq war. Inasmuch as the film was underwritten by the Iraqi government, just guess who the good guys are. Politics aside, this is a standard "men in war" melodrama, complete with the young soldier who is forced to leave his sweetheart behind as he fights for his country. The combat scenes are meticulously realistic -- and horrifying. Flaming Borders is highlighted, in a manner of speaking, with a cameo appearance by Saddam Hussein.
