Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

This educational documentary covers the Holocaust in Europe with archival footage (some unseen before) and testimony from survivors that provide the narration. It was preceded by The 81st Blow that dealt with the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe, and is succeeded by The Last Sea which tells of the aftermath of the Holocaust. One of the major themes in this informative documentary is that the Jewish community did fight whenever it had the chance, dispelling the myth that the Jews were just led to their slaughter. Not for the squeamish or frail of heart, one of many gruesome sequences show Ukrainian peasants torturing deported Jews.
