Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

As giant corporations plunder the sea for fish and fill their mammoth factory ships to the hilt in the name of mass consumption, the plight of impoverished fishing communities worldwide grows ever more dire. This film by documentarian Anand Patwardhan addresses a small fishing community's response to the so called "rape and run" fishing tactics of giant corporations. When the sea is stripped of its natural resources, coastal communities and ecosystems worldwide are slowly wiped from the face of the earth, and the livelyhood of these fishermen falls by the wayside. Journey to India and follow the National Fishworkers Forum and the World Forum of Fishworkers and Fish Harvesters as they attempt to make their voices heard and continue their way of life in the face of changing times.
