Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Award-winning New Orleans journalist Lolis Eric Elie writes, produces, and co-directs (with Dawn Logsdon) this heartfelt love letter to one of America's oldest African American communities. Faubourg Tremé was a prominent place during the struggle for civil rights, and people of various races have lived alongside one another in peace since the city was founded in the late 1700s. Interviews with a wide variety of New Orleans-based artists and scholars highlight the important role that Faubourg Tremé has played in the history of evolving history and culture of not just the south, but the United States as a whole.
