Synopsis by Steven Yoder
Director Bobbi Jo Hart presents Fanny: The Right to Rock, profiling the pioneering 1970s all-girl band. During the period when music was dominated by all-male "power rock" bands, Fanny was formed by Filipino-American sisters June and Jean Millington. The documentary covers Fanny's influence in the music industry as the first all-female band to release an album on a major label, and focuses on why the group never managed to break through before falling apart. Through interviews with band members and music personalities, a picture is painted of one of the best bands you never heard of.
