Synopsis by Nathan Southern

Regarded by many as the preeminent English-language poet of the early 20th century, Irish modernist writer and dramatist W.B. Yeats rejected the Protestantism and Roman Catholicism of his surrounding country and drew from older, pagan traditions to evoke a more traditional Ireland at the core of his work. In the process, Yeats almost singlehandedly led the Gaelic literature revival of the 1910s and 1920s and reshaped traditional, longstanding approaches to penmanship. Yeats is the focus of this concise biographical documentary, which provides an overview of the author's life, times and literary canon.
