Synopsis by Nathan Southern
First-time writer-director Ruben Imaz takes the reins for this tough, unsparing film about a disintegrating family. The occasion is the anniversary of the matriarch's death. As the date encroaches, immediate and distant family members gather together in one location, but only sad vestiges of the group remain. At the center of it all is gracious Uncle Manuel, who wants to do everything he can to repair broken bonds, including supporting his wife's unemployed unionist brother, Jose, and providing careful guidance to his teenage nephews. Unfortunately, Manuel's efforts prove futile - and soon, additional tragedies surface, such as Jose's revelation that he accidentally cost the family their house.
