Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Set in 1930s Ireland, Falling for a Dancer was the poignant tale of young rural colleen Elizabeth Sullivan (Elisabeth Dermot-Walsh). After a one-night stand with a charismatic traveling actor, 19-year-old Elizabeth found herself pregnant. Grimly, her father forced her into a loveless marriage with a widowed farmer several years older than she. Somehow or other, Elizabeth hoped that this bleak situation would culminate in happiness, and, in a manner of speaking, it did. The four 50-minute episodes of Falling for a Dancer launched their BBC1 run on September 13, 1998.
