Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This drama was adapted from the Gouvernor Morris story, You Can't Get Away with It, and its morality and attitude was typical of the day. Jill Cummings (Jewel Carmen) and her two sisters, Jane (Lavine Monsch) and Irene (Daise Robinson) are left penniless on their father's death. Jill goes to work in a department store and attracts the attention of its manager, George Hemmingway (Charles Clary). Since his wife has left him, he offers to provide for Jill if she will become his mistress. She agrees and lives in luxury. But she also pays a steep price -- when Jane marries, her new husband refuses to let her have anything to do with her wayward sister. Then Hemmingway dies and his son, George Jr. (L.C. Shumway), tells Jill that he has provided for her. She travels to Europe where she meets Harry Adams (Herbert Heyes). They fall in love and are engaged, but then he finds out about her past. He refuses to marry her, but offers her the same situation that George Sr. did. Jill, however, is fed up with the way she has been treated by the men in her life and sends him away.
