Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Blanche Sweet portrays Dr. Katherine Torrance, a woman doctor. Tom Forman is Leonard Sheldon, manager of a Mexican vineyard which is suffering from a diphtheria epidemic. Sheldon calls for a doctor and gets Katherine, much to the chagrin of the Mexicans. They've never seen a woman doctor, and their peasant superstitions lead them to believe that her forehead-mirror is "the evil eye," and that it's making their children die even faster. Sheldon winds up having to protect her from these ignorant peons, and of course the two also have a romance. Another sub-plot involves Sheldon's assistant, Frank (Webster Campbell), who compromises a young Mexican girl, Rosa (Ruth King), but winds up doing right by her. This silent film is obviously very much of its era, as far as prejudices towards minorities and women are concerned!
