Adrian Popovici directed this period drama. Set on the eve of World War II, it concerns a 16-year-old girl named Eva (Amy Hayes), who meets the love of her life, Tudor (Vincent Regan), on her 16th birthday. Curiously, though, all is not well with the relationship: Tudor begins making odd, random disappearances, abandoning Eva for unspecified periods of time. While he is M.I.A., she encounters another young man, Baron Oswald Van Seele (Patrick Bergin), with whom she falls in love, marries and conceives a child. Then Tudor turns up again, and rekindles his relationship with the young woman - which effectively destroys her marriage to the Baron. Meanwhile, Europe falls into complete disarray, and Eva runs headfirst into a series of related tragedies, including the loss of her child, political assassinations, and the attempted extermination of the Jews. Only after surviving much of this trauma does she finally learn the secret of Tudor's past.
