Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This video is one volume in a five-part series that showcases some of England's grandest and most historic houses. Each house has a long and sometimes checkered past and perhaps even a few ghosts. The Breamore House is the subject of this program. Its walls contain a fabulous collection of art obtained by privateering. The licensed practice of privateering allowed English seamen to board other boats and confiscate the treasures on board for the crown. Some of that bounty made its way to Breamore House where the viewer catches a glimpse of its colorful past.
