This Australian medical drama series was clearly patterned after the popular British weekly Emergency Ward 10. Like its role model, the Australian program concentrated on the personal and professional travails of the staff of a big-city hospital E.R. ward. Although the series ostensibly boasted a huge writing staff, most of the "scripters" were actually producer Roland Strong, employing a variety of pseudonyms. Debuting January 16, 1959 over the GTV-9 service, Emergency ran for 16 half-hour episodes.
