Synopsis by Dennis Proctor
Ella Jenkins' musical legacy spans more than 40 years, during which time she has performed and worked with children on seven continents. In this educational video, Jenkins performs with children from the Smithsonian Institution Early Enrichment Center. Parents at home are encouraged to watch with their children and to participate in the music-making process. The Smithsonian Folkways production is appropriate for children of any age group and has received the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award. The program is intended to help children develop listening skills, utilize imagination, and appreciate music. Jenkins leads kids on 12 interactive songs, including "Miss Mary Mack," "Did You Feed My Cow?," "Stop and Go," and "Shake Hands With Friends."
