Synopsis
The conclusion traces the life of Ramesses II, a commoner by birth who picked up the pieces following the mysterious death of King Tut and ruled from 1279 to 1212 B.C. Ramesses, an obsessive builder under whose reign learning flourished, secured his reputation at the battle of Kadesh, where the Hittites were stopped. But he didn't win the battle; he just said he did, with "the hieroglyphic equivalent of spin-doctoring," says John Roy of Cambridge University. Keith David narrates.
