Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith

Though Austrian Egon Schiele only lived for 28 years, he managed to create an impressive body of art work during his life. Schiele's childhood and schooling are reviewed during this film shot on location in Austria. Many art historians recall the erotic drawings of the human figure completed by Schiele. A number of his most outstanding paintings and drawings are examined, as art historians comment on his style. Schiele was one of Austria's expressionist painters who was greatly influenced by the work of Gustav Klimt, the leader of the Vienna Sezession group. Many of Schiele's landscapes capture soothing sunsets and other scenes from nature.
