Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Filmmaker Stephan Ansipichler offers an unguarded portrait of Swiss humanitarian Lotti Latrous in this documentary exploring how a well-to-do mother of three sacrificed her lavish lifestyle to provide care for the sick and needy in the Abidjan slum of Adjouffou. At the time Latrous made the decision to change her life forever, she was living on the Ivory Coast of Africa. A mother of three who had lived an affluent and fulfilling family life, Latrous gradually began to question her dependence on the social norms. Latrous had always done what was expected of her as a mother and wife, yet in conforming to the standards of modern society she had grown increasingly unfulfilled. It was only when Latrous began working at the Mother Theresa Hospice in the Ivory Coast that she realized just how much she had to offer to the world. In caring for the sick and the dying Latrous had finally found her calling in life and quickly made the decision to remain in Africa and open an AIDS clinic. While society at large would openly question Latrous' decision to leave behind her children - including a nine year-old daughter - in order to provide care for some of the most desperate and destitute people on the planet, the woman warmly regarded as Madame Lotti would be forced to give up everything that she ever cared about in order to find ultimate fulfillment.
