Synopsis by Andrea LeVasseur

Writer/director/producer Pamela Corkey makes her feature debut with the romantic comedy Easy Listening. Set in 1967, the story involves a middle-aged would-be hipster named Burt (David Ian). He plays trumpet in an easy listening orchestra in order to pay the bills, but he really wishes he was swinging with a hot jazz band. Since he can't improvise musically, he just dresses up and tries to act like a beatnik. His life changes when young flute player Linda (Traci Crouch) joins his orchestra. She has a great admiration for the musical style which she refers to as orchestral pop. She also believes that Burt is an excellent trumpet player, leading to a sweet, pleasant romance. The musical score is provided by prolific mood music ensemble the 101 Strings Orchestra, with some songs composed by director Corkey herself. Easy Listening was shown at several independent film festivals in 2002 before premiering on home video in 2004.
