Synopsis by Nathan Southern

A firsthand investigation of how demagogues form, actress-turned-director Nino Kirtadze's documentary Durakovo: The Village of Fools journeys to the titular locale - a castle outside of Moscow - that is housing a terrifying new political movement. At the center of Durakovo stands Mikhail Morozov, a political leader who bands his followers together under the guise of extreme right-wing Russian nationalism. Cameras rolling, Kirtadze witnesses the fruition of this new movement, as it attracts a disturbingly large number of followers - most of them extremely young and impressionable - and begins to spread in both influence and popularity.
