With the conclusion of the four-part adventure "The Arrival", DragonBall Z's "Saiyan Saga" officially got under way with the episode titled "Gohan's Metamorphosis." In the early stages of his training as a member of Team Dragon Ball, Gohan glimpses at the full moon ---and immediate transforms into a hideous, apelike monster. This obliges Gohan's trainer, Piccolo, to take drastic action, culminating in the destruction of the moon itself. Meanwhile, Gohan's father Goku begins the first leg of his afterlife journey on Snake Way. "Gohan's Metamorphosis" was originally telecast in Japan on June 21, 1989, and was first shown in America on October 11, 1996.
