With his final burst of energy, Garlic Jr. attempts to thwart the Z-Team by reopening the vortex leading to the Dead Zone. Meanwhile, Gohan takes up the cudgel from the fallen Krillin and Piccolo, launching an all-out offensive on the Makyo Star, Garlic Jr's source of energy. But though the villain is put out of commission, Gohan may also have eliminated his friends in the process. First telecast in Japan on November 13, 1991, "Brief Chance for Victory" was Episode Nine of DragonBall Z's ten-part "Garlic Jr. Saga"; in America, however, it was shown on May 27, 2000, as the cliffhanger finale of the series' fourth season.
