When a Japanese woman whose husband was killed in Vietnam is senselessly murdered, Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) has a hard time controlling his emotions, knowing that the woman's daughter is now an orphan. Soon discovering that there had been an assault in the same neighborhood earlier in the week, the determined lawman learns that a suspicious man driving a yellow truck could have something to do with the murder. Friday and Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan) track the suspect to his home and, upon conducting a search, Gannon discovers the hidden murder weapon. When the young orphan offers Friday her doll as a token of appreciation for catching the killer, Friday, clearly touched, gracefully declines the gift.
