Following a disturbing incident in which disgruntled teen Gerald Paulson (Mickey Sholdar) pours sulfuric acid on another teen who was talking in a movie theater, Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan) bring the suspect in for an interview and subsequently release him to his parents. An argument with his parents results in Gerald abruptly leaving home with a live hand grenade and by the time Friday and Gannon catch up to him, Gerald is threatening to detonate it in the middle of a party. Turning off the music long enough to distract Gerald, Friday and Gannon are able to safely resolve the situation despite the chilling fact that, in the heat of the moment, the pin had been pulled.
