Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Chester Abbott (James Bell) tells the police that his wife is missing. Abbott's 17-year-old stepson, however, suspects that his mom was murdered by his stepdad. But when Friday (Jack Webb) and Smith (Ben Alexander) try to question the boy, he can't be located--and worse, Abbott has "lawyered up" and refuses to provide any further information. The key to solving the case may be found in the nursery on Abbott's property, which is surrounded by a chain link fence and guarded by a brace of ferocious dogs. A pre-Gunsmoke Dennis Weaver plays a cop in this episode, which was adapted from the Dragnet radio broadcast of February 28, 1952.
