After finding a malignant growth in Dorothy's breast, Dr. Quinn sadly informs her patient that a mastectomy is probably the only way for her to survive. Though Dorothy initially claims she would die before going through such a radical procedure, she eventually consents to the surgery. However, after the operation, Jake guiltily tells Loren that his feelings have changed toward Dorothy since the operation. Meanwhile, Colleen's blooming figure leaves her victim to harassment at school, while Jake and Loren concoct a plan to crash Ladies Night at Hank's saloon.
