Synopsis by Mark Deming
In this satiric short comedy from director Daniel Zimmermann, the organizers of the Lauberhorn downhill ski race, the longest such competition in the world, have announced that logistical troubles have forced them to reschedule the annual event for mid-summer. Of course, this means that the mountains won't have any snow, but not to worry -- the Lauberhorn team have set up a trail made from wooden slats, and they're happy to demonstrate that a run down the boards is every bit as challenging as one on the powder. Lauberhornrennen im Sommer (aka Downhill Skiing In Summer) was screened in competition at the 2007 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
