Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This Biograph film was based on the poem by Tennyson. After the death of his brother, Farmer Allan (Jack Drumier) takes in his orphaned niece, Dora (Isabel Rea), with the intention of matching her up with his son, William. But Dora is in love with someone else, and William is secretly engaged to Mary, a servant girl (Gretchen Hartman). When Allan announces his plans, William and Mary elope. William is disinherited by his father, and when they fall on hard times, Dora helps them out. Allan discovers this and also disowns her. William dies and Dora and Mary live together. They bring about a reunion with the crotchety old man by softening his heart with William's little boy.
