The successor to the CBC public affairs series The Candid Eye, Documentary 60 was, like its predecessor, a production of the National Film Board of Canada. Using a first-person technique then known as "direct camera," the series' 26 half-hour programs covered such subjects as the Canadian railway system, the country's various physical fitness projects, and recent advances in science and technology. Also scrutinized were a number of Canadian artists and entertainers, notably the brilliant if erratic pianist Glenn Gould. Documentary 60 was telecast on Sundays from October 25, 1959 to May 29, 1960.
