Synopsis by Alice Day
The physiological reasons behind stuttering are still uncertain, and filmmakers travel to the National Institute of Health, where researchers are investigating its causes. The embarrassment that stuttering invokes can be devastating to sufferers, whether they be small children, adolescents, or adults. Different therapies are available, and Doctor Is In: Stuttering examines approaches to this disorder. Two speech pathologists, Barry Guitar and Deborah Foltyn, appear on the program, in addition to the head of the National Stuttering Project John Albach.
